Scripture calls leaders to a higher standard. Leadership is not about titles, popularity, or power—it’s about influence used to serve others. True servant leadership reflects Christ’s example. The Student Leadership Team is for teens committed to living by this higher standard and becoming influential in advancing God’s kingdom.

Expectation of A Student leader

Student Leaders are called to live a life that clearly reflects their faith—a “no doubt” lifestyle that demonstrates a genuine commitment to following Christ. Leadership is not about status, but about serving others and setting a Christ-centered example in every area of life.

Spiritual Integrity

Maintain a consistent walk with Christ through prayer, Bible study, and worship. Live in obedience to God’s Word, even when it’s challenging. Demonstrate humility through repentance and accountability.

Sevant Ledaership

Lead with a servant-hearted attitude, following the example of Jesus in Mark 10:45. Prioritize others over self, avoiding pride and self-promotion.

Active MInistry Involvement

Serve on at least two Major Event Planning Teams. Welcome and support new students, and be proactive in meeting needs within the ministry.

Leadership by example

Be reliable, punctual, and prepared. Encourage and uplift others, fostering a positive and Christ-centered environment. Support the Student Ministry Staff and Adult Leadership Team.

Uplifting Communication

Speak in ways that build others up, as instructed in Ephesians 4:29. Avoid gossip, negativity, and divisive conversations. Address concerns directly with leaders, not peers.

Accountablity

Be open to mentorship, correction, and feedback. Live transparently and avoid hypocrisy.

Biblical Convictions

Uphold clear biblical standards in both belief and behavior. Reflect Christ in all areas of life, both publicly and privately.

Higher standard of Living

Commit to holiness and integrity, abstaining from even the appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22). Avoid alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and environments that could compromise your witness.

Commitment of A Student leader

Student Leaders are expected to lead by example through consistent attendance and active participation.
This includes:

Weekly Service

Attendance at Voyage Nights and either Middle School or High School Small Groups.

Monthly LEadership Trainings

Held on the second Sunday of each month from 12:30–2:00 PM (unless otherwise noted).

Annual Student Leader Weekend

Participation in this key leadership retreat is required.

Student Ministry Events

Engagement in other ESM events as availability allows.

The TEam of A Student leader

The Student Leader Program serves as a team, and as a team, we NEED to be able to lean on each other. So, while we do not "remove" Student Leaders, individuals may choose to step down if expectations are not met.
We follow a three-step accountability process:

Peer Accountability

Concerns are first addressed through student-to-student accountability.

Adult Leader Intervention

If the issue persists, an Adult Leader meets with the Student Leader to discuss the concern and explore solutions.

PAstoral Oversight

If unresolved, the Family Ministry Pastor meets with the Student Leader. At this stage, the student may choose to step away from the leadership team.

Want to be part of the team?

Awesome! Just fill out the application to get started. Keep in mind—we’re looking for students who take this seriously and are ready to step up. If the application isn’t filled out thoughtfully, you won’t be considered. So give it your best shot!
