CONNECTION GROUPS

Emmanuel is a church of Connection Groups. Connection Groups are the heartbeat of the church, an essential part of becoming fully-developing followers of Jesus as we navigate life together. These small groups meet weekly for fellowship, biblical study, and to form deeper relationships among the church family. These are the people that will be there when you need them. They will pray with you and for you, they will encourage you, and they will walk alongside you on your spiritual journey.

This fall, groups will begin the week of October 5. If you would like to host a group, please sign up below!

CONNECTION GROUP FAQS

WHY SHOULD I JOIN A CONNECTION GROUP?
Connection Groups help you grow closer to God and to others. Your Connection Group becomes your family as you get to know each other and study the Bible together.
WHAT WILL I DO IN A CONNECTION GROUP?
When your group meets, you’ll spend time with each other, eat, study the Bible, pray for each other, and serve together.
WHEN AND WHERE DO THEY MEET?
We have groups meeting almost every day of the week either at the church or in homes throughout Calvert County.
HOW DO I SIGN UP?
Look for information during Sunday services or on this page when sign-ups are available.

HOSTING FAQS

WHAT DOES A CONNECTION GROUP HOST DO?
As a host, you will provide your home or another location for the group to meet, provide or coordinate snacks, and facilitate your Bible study discussions.
WHEN AND WHERE DO GROUPS MEET?
Groups meet once a week at the host's home or on the church campus. If you would like to meet at the church, please contact the church office to reserve space.
HOW LONG DO THEY LAST?
Each semester lasts eight to ten weeks. After that, groups are encouraged to continue meeting!

Each group meeting should last roughly two hours, with equal time devoted to fellowship and to Bible study and prayer.
HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN A GROUP?
It depends on the group and the space constraints of your location. Most groups are about ten to fifteen people - some larger, some smaller.
WHAT WILL THE CONTENT OF THE BIBLE STUDY BE?
Typically, during the fall semester, all our Connection Groups study the same content as part of our fall campaign. All lesson and discussion materials will be provided to you.

During the spring semester, hosts may choose their content (subject to elders' approval). RightNow Media is a great source for video-based studies, and many include discussion questions and leader guides.
WHAT IF I'VE NEVER HOSTED A GROUP BEFORE?
Now is a great time to start! The requirements to be a group host are membership at Emmanuel and a heart for people. We will provide you with training resources.
